Okay so it’s getting serious for Tottenham Hotspur now – they absolutely need a new striker.
Well they’ve needed one all summer long, but Harry Kane’s omission from the squad today indicates that Spurs might well be planning for life without their 28-year-old hitman.
The good news is that the speculation linking them with a move for Dusan Vlahovic is looking more and more credible.
Tottenham have been chasing the 21-year-old all summer and back in June it was reported that Fabio Paratici had lodged a £51 million bid for the Fiorentina sensation.
Atletico Madrid’s emergence is recent weeks has complicated things.
But the good news is that despite the Spanish club making a bid of their own, the North Londoners are still winning the race to sign Vlahovic.
That is the view of Alfredo Pedulla, who reiterated today that Tottenham still have an offer of £51 million on the table.
Spot-on
With Kane being omitted for the visit of Manchester City, today was the biggest hint yet that he won’t be staying with Nuno Espirito Santo’s side.
He scored more than 30 goals for Tottenham last season and that right there illustrates that there’s no margin for error.
Paratici has to get the replacement absolutely spot-on and at the moment, it’s looking like the Italian really rates Vlahovic.
