Legia Warsaw’s Poland international Josip Juranovic is keen on a move to Scottish Premiership giants Celtic with £2.5 million potentially enough to get the deal done, as reported by Sky Sports.

Of course, no-one at Parkhead will be getting carried away just yet.

Throughout this summer Celtic have been closing in on a number of right-backs, only for the reported deals to fall through for a host of reasons.

Negotiations with Valentin Rosier were called off, for example, after the former Sporting Lisbon misfit made it clear he only wanted to join Besiktas.

George Baldock, meanwhile, was just too expensive at £8 million, despite Ange Postecoglou making the Sheffield United ace his number one target.

And a deal for Aurelio Buta appears to have gone the same way, Celtic reluctant to meet Royal Antwerp’s £5 million demands for a man who could now be on his way to Everton instead.

So while Juranovic would jump at the chance to join one of the biggest and most historic clubs in European football, that’s only half the battle.

Could Josip Juranovic be the right-back Celtic desperately need?

Juranovic, who impressed against Scotland during Croatia’s 3-1 victory at Hampden Park in the Euro 2020 group stages, has another two years left on his contract and Legia Warsaw are under no immediate pressure to cash in.

He did, however, admit a few weeks ago he’d consider a move away from a Legia Warsaw side that, like Celtic, suffered disappointment in its attempt to seal Champions League qualification.

Sky adds Zagreb-born Juranovic is valued at about £2.5 million, meaning he would come a lot cheaper than the likes of Rosier, Buta and Baldock.

Attack minded and blessed with real quality in the final third, 25-year-old Juranovic produced eight assists in 32 matches for Legia Warsaw last season and has two in eight games already this campaign.
