Sweden legend Marcus Allback believes Spartak Moscow striker Jordan Larsson is capable of following in his father’s gilded footsteps at Celtic, while speaking to the Glasgow Times.

Larsson Jr might not possess Henrik’s elite-level talent but, over in Russia, he is certainly developing into a decent striker in his own right.

The Dutch-born 24-year-old scored 15 goals in 31 games for Spartak Moscow last term; those eye-catching displays catching the eye of West Ham United.

If reports are to be believed, Borussia Dortmund have identified Larsson as a potential successor for Erling Haaland too.

But how would the one-time Barcelona youngster feel about following in his father’s footsteps in the green half of Glasgow?

Those inevitable comparisons with arguably the finest footballer ever to wear the famous Hooped shirt could do Larsson more harm than good, of course, although Allback believes the six-time Sweden international has all the attributes to thrive in Scottish football.

Would Jordan Larsson consider following in Henrik’s footsteps at Celtic?

“If Jordan Larsson was to sign for Celtic, I know that would be a great signing for both the player and the club,” said the former Aston Villa front-man.

“Jordan is a great player and has a lot of good qualities that he could bring to the team. He’s not the tallest, but he is strong, his mentality of working hard and always making runs, taking on players and his effort to defend, is something that would suit playing for Celtic.

“Jordan has great talent, and already is on track for a good career for himself, being selected for the squad for Euro 2020 and doing well in Russia.

“If there is any pressure in Scotland, there is no doubt that Jordan will deal well with it and rise to the occasion. He is a strong character and his willingness to work hard is something I personally like a lot.”

After being linked with a shock return to Barcelona earlier this year, Larsson was slapped with a staggering 100 million euro (£85m) price-tag by Spartak Moscow’s president.

In reality, however, the Russian giants would sell for far less than that.
