Rangers winger Glenn Middleton is heading back to St. Johnstone on loan after an impressive stint in Perth last season – and Gers fans hope the Scotland under-21 star can use his time with the Saintees to force his way into the first-team picture at Ibrox.
Middleton joined the Perth side on loan in January, helping them secure a Scottish Cup and League Cup double before returning to Rangers for pre-season.
After featuring in some of the Gers’ pre-season fixtures, Middleton was nowhere to be seen when the competitive games started last weekend.
Gers boss Steven Gerrard confirmed Middleton had a number of options to choose from before opting to return to McDiarmid Park where his role in the double cup win ensures his legendary status at only 21.
With the prospect of European football this season for Middleton too, there’s plenty for the Rangers winger to be excited about while out on loan.
Rangers fans are keen to see him succeed in Perth and hoped it could open the door for Middleton to push into the first-team picture at Ibrox next seaason.
