Former Rangers chairman Dave King has hailed last season’s title success for the Light Blues as “extraordinary” and confessed that the gap between Rangers and their Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top of the Premiership was remarkable as he reflected on winning 55 last season.

King was surprised by the “relative ease” Rangers won the title, finishing the season unbeaten and ending a record 25 points clear of second-place Celtic.
With the Gers picking up where they left off with a 3-0 win in the 2021/22 curtain-raiser against Livingston, King couldn’t quite believe just how well everything went for Rangers last season.
“When I look back now after the raw emotion of winning at the time, it is the relative ease with which it was won both in terms of the gap they ended up with and also setting records along the way it really is quite extraordinary,” King told the Rangers Connection podcast.
“I felt we could win the league against a very strong Celtic team who had such motivation to go down in history as the team that won 10 in a row.
“I felt we would be competitive but to be so dominant and put such distance between us and Celtic, it really is remarkable.”
Rangers will be hoping to build on that gap over their Old Firm rivals and can push on and win the title for a second successive season.
The prospect of automatic entry to the Champions League group stage for this season’s league winners is a massive carrot for the Rangers stars to go on make it two in a row.
