Japhet Tanganga has agreed on terms in principle with Galatasaray over a season-long loan deal should Tottenham Hotspur grant the defender’s transfer exit, according to Fanatik.
Cimbom are striving to bolster Fatih Terim’s backline ahead of the start of the new Super Lig season. The Turk Telekom Arena boss handed his Istanbul outfit a long list of targets at the start of the window, including Tanganga and Crystal Palace’s Cheikhou Kouyate.
Galatasaray chiefs are now locked in further talks with Tottenham to finalise a deal to sign Tanganga. The Turkish giants hope to acquire the Spurs product on loan with an option to buy the 22-year-old next summer. Fanatik do not claim the fee envisaged for the defender.

Galatasaray have been speaking with Tottenham over Tanganga’s availability for a while. The Athletic also noted over the weekend that Cimbom had made Spurs an offer, but the centre-half was not yet sold on the move.
Tanganga wanted to wait for Nuno Espirito Santo to outline his plans for the £23,000-per-week enforcer before deciding his future. His primary aim was to remain in north London and challenge for a starting role under the Portuguese. But that, seemingly, is not possible.
Galatasaray still need to agree on terms with Tottenham, despite their apparent deal with Tanganga. The Athletic also noted Premier League and further foreign tracks were on the horizon, should the London-born talent consider leaving his boyhood club on loan.
Cimbom’s rival suitors could now surface with Tanganga ready to test himself at a new side for the first time. The England U21 international has made 24 first-team outings for Spurs since debuting under Jose Mourinho. But only made 13 appearances, starting 11, last term.
Will Tottenham let Galatasaray sign Tanganga on loan with option to buy?
It is unlikely that Tottenham will let Galatasaray sign Tanganga on loan with an option to buy next summer. The defender still has four years remaining on his contract and has often impressed in his senior outings to date.
Michael Dawson also told The Spurs Web in March: “I thought he was a breath of fresh air. I met him when I went down for the Arsenal game, he’s a great kid. He had to be patient, but when he broke onto the scene, he was fantastic.”
However, the centre-half, who can also play at right-back, does need regular game time to continue his development. So, it is possible that Tottenham will allow Tanganga to join Galatasaray on loan after agreeing on terms in principle.
In Istanbul, Tanganga will also have the chance to compete for the Super Lig title and play in Europe. Cimbom face St Johnstone in the first-leg of their Europa League third qualifying round tie on Thursday. PSV eliminated Terim’s men from the Champions League last week.
