Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard is uncertain over a potential move to join Brighton and Hove Albion before the transfer deadline later this month.
That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Edouard is currently ‘unsure’ that Brighton is the right move for him.
The Seagulls are still pursuing a £20million deal for Edouard anyway, in the hope that they can eventually tempt him into a move.
In the meantime, Brighton are looking elsewhere and now want Benfica striker Darwin Nunez.
The Uruguayan hitman is valued at £35million having hit 14 goals and 12 assists in his first season with Benfica last term.
Brighton are desperate to land a striker, and moving on from Edouard would be great for Celtic – or even Crystal Palace.
Celtic would love to keep Edouard, as many expected him to leave this summer, and he is arguably the biggest goal threat in Scotland if his head is in the right place.
There is also a chance that Palace – Brighton’s bitter rivals – make a move of their own for Edouard, with The Guardian reporting last month that the Eagles want to sign the Frenchman.
Edouard’s former Paris Saint-Germain youth coach Said Aigoun is now part of Patrick Vieira’s coaching staff, and the hope is that Edouard will be tempted into a move to Selhurst Park.
Whether he likes that idea any more than Brighton remains to be seen, but it promises to be a fascinating month with Edouard’s future up in the air.
