Crystal Palace are plotting an ambitious move to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard – and may have a secret weapon in Said Aigoun.
That’s according to The Guardian, who report that Palace are targeting a move for Edouard to bolster Patrick Vieira’s striking options.
Edouard has seen some potential avenues out of Celtic disappear.
Leicester City signed Patson Daka instead of Edouard, and Arsenal seem to be prioritising Tammy Abraham if they’re to bring in another striker.
That may mean that other Premier League clubs are able to swoop in and sign Edouard when they otherwise wouldn’t have expected to be in the race.
Palace’s secret weapon here is new development coach Aigoun, who worked with Edouard in the Paris Saint-Germain academy some years before his move to Celtic.
Palace seemingly think that Aigoun has a strong enough relationship with Edouard to tempt him into signing for the Eagles this summer.
Edouard, 23, hit 22 goals in 40 games for Celtic last season and seems ready for a big move away from Scotland.
Palace do need to find themselves another striker with Michy Batshuayi’s loan spell over, and a bold move for Edouard could now take place after the signings of Marc Guehi and Michael Olise.
