Celtic have reportedly opened talks with Tottenham Hotspur over the signing of Joe Hart, who could leave this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Scottish giants are in discussions with the Premier League for the 75-cap England international.

The Sky Italia journalist tweeted: “Celtic have opened talks with Tottenham to sign Joe Hart as new goalkeeper. Negotiations ongoing between the two clubs.”

Hart acted as Spurs’ second-choice keeper last season behind Hugo Lloris.

However, the summer signing of Pierluigi Gollini will likely see the two-time Premier League champion demoted to third-choice.

Indeed, Celtic are keen to sign a shot-stopper this summer. Former keeper Fraser Forster is also a target for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Moreover, the Southampton star recently rejecting a new contract according to the Scottish Sun.

Hart or Forster would be perfect for Celtic

With the Glasgow side eager to improve between the posts, either keeper would be an excellent upgrade over the current number one Vasilis Barkas.

Forster is a Celtic Park fan favourite and impressed in the 2019/20 season when on-loan with the Scottish side.

Hart, meanwhile, has a Premier League-winning mentality which could be a valuable asset to Postecoglou’s Celtic side going forward.

Both players would be welcomed with open arms, and with Hart and Forster both likely to leave their clubs this summer, Celtic could pick up a coup in the window from south of the border.
