Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez wants to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the summer transfer window, according to The Athletic.

It is being reported by The Athletic this morning that Arsenal have enquired about the striker’s availability.

The 23-year-old Argentina international is open to joining the Gunners if his club, Italian champions Inter, sell him this summer.

A move to Arsenal would also see Martinez get an increase on his current salary of €2.5 million (£2.13m) per annum.

Superb signing for Arsenal

Martinez would be an absolutely brilliant signing for Arsenal and would make the Gunners so much better in attack.

Yes, Arsenal have a good attacking unit, but the Argentine is very young and can only get better in the coming years.

Moreover, the Inter striker is rated very highly by his Argentina international teammate Lionel Messi.

Messi described Martinez as “spectacular”, “impressive” and “complete” in Mundo Deportivo in May 2020.

The former Racing Club striker helped Inter win Serie A last season and then clinched the Copa America with Argentina this summer.

Martinez scored 17 goals and gave six assists in Serie A last season, and scored 14 goals and gave three assists in the league in 2019-20.

The Inter striker would instantly make Arsenal better and more potent in attack.
