Speaking on The Done Deal Show, journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Tottenham could go back in for Sevilla defender Jules Kounde.
Kounde is a player Spurs have reportedly been after this summer, even having an offer accepted for the defender at one point.
However, they were unable to convince the player to join the club, with Kounde supposedly turning Tottenham down due to the fact they’re not in the Champions League.
Despite their failed first attempt, Jones says that Spurs could end up going back in for Kounde, who was once described as a ‘total footballer’.
What’s been said?
Jones gave an update on Spurs’ interest in Kounde.
“Kounde, Tottenham were quite optimistic about that at one point, not for very long, because it quickly fell away, but there were certainly a few days where they thought the player fancied it, and he’s had second thoughts on it, and as you say, he’s waiting on other offers and who else Tottenham sign, because he wants to be playing and he doesn’t want them signing another centre-back where he would be left out. It’s one to watch, he might come back onto the radar, but it’s unlikely because right now they’re pursuing other people,” Jones said.

Unlikely
Spurs could have another look at Kounde this summer, but it’s hard to see them actually signing him.
As Jones says, Kounde is waiting on other offers, and if Fabrizio Romano is to be believed, he’s received an offer from Chelsea.
As much as Spurs fans won’t like to hear it, Chelsea are a bigger draw at this moment in time, they’re the reigning European champions and they’re in next season’s Champions League.
With Spurs seemingly closing in on Cristian Romero, it’s hard to see their interest in Kounde being revived, even if Jones believes that he could end up back on Tottenham’s radar.
