Tottenham have reportedly reached an agreement with Atalanta defender Cristian Romero.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, the Argentine centre-back has agreed to a five-year contract with Spurs with an option for a sixth. As per the report, Tottenham still need to reach a fee with the Serie A side for Romero.
Indeed, Atalanta are looking for €60m (£51m) for the 23-year-old defender. Meanwhile, Tottenham have made an offer that could reach €50m (£42m).
Moreover, Romero will likely become Tottenham’s third signing of the summer. Spurs have already acquired Atalanta keeper Pierluigi Gollini as well as Sevilla prospect Bryan Gil.
A centre-back is Spurs’ priority this window, with Toby Alderweireld close to leaving north London. Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez could also depart the club.
Whilst it will be hard to see fan favourites leave N17, some Tottenham supporters on social media are buzzing that Romero is close to joining.
The Argentine defender is one a top prospect and has proven with Atalanta last season that he is a player with substantial potential.

Indeed, for Tottenham fans, they’re excited about the defender signing for the club and agreeing to a contract with the north Londoners.
