Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic has raved about Aaron Ramsdale on talkSPORT, amid speculation that Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are keen on bringing him to the Emirates Stadium.

Begovic played with Ramsdale at Bournemouth, and the newly-signed Everton goalkeeper believes that the Sheffield United custodian can be one of the best in the Premier League.

Aaron Ramsdale praise

The Everton man said about the Blades goalkeeper on talkSPORT: “He can become one of the best, especially in the country. He’s already proved that he can play at the highest level. He’s got a lot of potential still to fulfil.

“The more he plays, the more he’s going to progress. So I’m not surprised to see him linked with some of the top clubs. What he’s done over the last couple of years shows everyone the quality he has.

“With his age, where he’s at, the potential is there to become an even better goalkeeper.”

Arsenal interest

Arsenal have been strongly linked with a move for Ramsdale in the summer transfer window.

Sky Sports reported over the weekend that the Gunners are planning to make a third bid for the 23-year-old Englishman.

Arsenal’s first two offers were turned down by the Blades.

The Guardian have claimed that United, who got relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, want £30 million including add-ons for the Englishman.

Good signing for Arsenal?

Begovic is a very good goalkeeper. The former Chelsea man will know a quality goalkeeper when he sees one.

The Everton goalkeeper will know Ramsdale’s strengths and weaknesses well, having played with him at Bournemouth.

Given that Ramsdale is only 23, you can expect him to get better and develop even more in the coming years.

The problem is that £30 million including add-ons is a lot to pay for a second-choice goalkeeper.

Bernd Leno is the number one between the posts at Arsenal, and Ramsdale will not go straight into the team.
