Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maxinin is ‘alarmed’ by the club’s lack of summer transfer business this summer and may look to move on.
That’s according to The Mirror (25/07, p66), who claim that Newcastle are now fearing that they face a battle to hang onto Saint-Maximin.
The French wide man made it clear at the end of last season that he didn’t want to be involved in another relegation battle after spending much of his two seasons with the club hovering in the lower reaches of the Premier League.
Newcastle are yet to bolster their squad this summer and Steve Bruce seemingly has a very small budget to work with at St James’ Park.
Saint-Maximin is allegedly concerned with the lack of activity this summer, though he could be convinced to stay if Arsenal midfielder Joe Willock rejoins this summer.
Saint-Maximin is valued at around £60million by Mike Ashley, and he may look to leave Newcastle in search of a club with more spending power and ambition.

Everton want to sign Saint-Maximin according to a report from The Mirror earlier this month, though whether Rafael Benitez has £60million to spend on him remains to be seen.
Hopefully this isn’t the case for Newcastle. Saint-Maximin is their most exciting player and a fan favourite having made it clear throughout his time with the Magpies that he loves the club and its fans.
Seeing him leave would be a real blow for Newcastle, but he will have big ambitions. Top half Premier League clubs would surely love to have Saint-Maximin, and if the Magpies can’t convince the winger of their ambition for the future, they could lose him.
