Mousa Dembele, Toby Alderweireld and Dele Alli were just some of the players who reacted on Instagram to Erik Lamela leaving Tottenham on Monday.
Tottenham confirmed on Twitter that the 29-year-old has joined Sevilla and they have added the ball-carrying expert, Bryan Gil, to their ranks.
It means that Lamela leaves Spurs after an eight-year association with the club that saw him become a marmite-like figure because of his performances, or at times lack of them.
Either way, he gave his all for Spurs and these are some of the players who sent their well-wishes to Lamela after he posted a goodbye message to fans.
Mousa Dembele wrote: ‘Good luck bro.’ added with a heart emoji. Whilst Dele Alli wished his fellow midfielder ‘All the best’ in Spain.
Alderweireld, who could also be heading for the North London exit door this summer, also added: ‘Good luck my friend.”
Perhaps not a consistent performer in Tottenham colours, but certainly a scorer of great goals.
Not one Rabona, but two of them from the quick-footed Argentine during his time in England, including against Arsenal last season.
Lamela had a wand of a left-foot and on his day he could glide around that pitch with great ease, skill and confidence.
But with a new man at Tottenham’s helm, and a season of decline last time out, it was obvious that a clearout was going to take place.
And Lamela is one of the first names to head for the exit door.
