According to a report by The Telegraph, Toby Alderweireld is nearing a move away from Tottenham Hotspur.
Indeed, Alderweireld is reportedly close to joining Qatari outfit Al-Duhail in a £13m move.
The Belgian has been a fantastic servant for Tottenham ever since joining the north London outfit in 2015, but sadly, Father Time remains undefeated, and at the age of 32, the centre-back has regressed slightly.
With Nuno Espirito Santo coming in, Spurs look set to shake up their squad, and now one of their longest-serving players is set to leave.
Alderweireld may not be at the level he was once at, but he still has a lot to offer at Spurs, with Jose Mourinho describing him as ‘fantastic’ earlier this season.
Unfortunately., it seems as though the Belgian isn’t going to get to play in front of a packed-out Tottenham Hotspur Stadium again, but he’ll undoubtedly go down as one of the best centre-backs Spurs have had during the Premier League era.
Spurs signed the defender for just £11.5m back in 2015, and after six years of good service, it looks as though the London club may be about to make a small profit of £1.5m on the player.
Alderweireld has been brilliant for Spurs over the years, but sadly, all good things have to come to an end.
