Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to Heung-Min Son admitting that he misses his former teammate, Jan Vertonghen.

The 29-year-old penned down a new Tottenham contract on Friday and spoke about his solo goal against Burnley, as posted by the club’s official Twitter account.

It was Vertonghen who provided Son with his Puskas-winning goal and after committing his Spurs future, the South Korean stated: “I am still thankful for Jan, miss you.”

Vertongen was a fan favourite during his time in North London, so it isn’t a surprise that the Spurs faithful agree with Son.

The Belgium international left when his contract expired last summer and he has since taken his talents to Benfica.

Whether Spurs should have parted ways with Vertongen in 2020 will always be up for debate, but one thing is for sure, a big-name signing should have been made at centre-back.

Joe Rodon was brought in from Swansea, but a more proven performer at the top-end of European football needed to be brought in, not last summer, but the one before.

Perhaps then, the pressure would have been eased on the likes of Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld.

But it wasn’t meant to be.

And now, 12 months after Vertongen left, his partner in crime, Alderweireld, could also be heading for the exit door.

Slowly, but surely, it does seem as though it’s an end of an era at Spurs, as Nuno Espirito Santo looks to add his touches to this declining squad.

Nonetheless, here is a selection of Spurs fans reacting to Son’s comment on Vertongen:
