If rumours are believed, Liverpool want to sign West Ham United attacker Jarrod Bowen this summer.
The Athletic’s James Pearce has revealed that the English winger is on Liverpool’s radar.
With the Reds potentially losing Xherdan Shaqiri and Takumi Minamino, signing another wide player makes sense.
The West Ham star netted eight Premier League goals for the Irons last season.
This is a player who many Liverpool fans may not have taken notice of before, but Gary Neville’s praise could and should excite the Anfield faithful.
He told Sky Sports last December, via Hammers News: “I always think Bowen is a bundle of energy. He is brilliant to watch.”
Livewire
Bowen, on his day, is indeed quite a livewire and god knows that Liverpool could do with a little bit of electricity up front.
Yes, Mohamed Salah hit the 30-goal barrier once again, but Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota only netted 38 goals between them last term.
That looks like a brilliant total but really, when you consider how brilliant they all are individually, it isn’t all that amazing.
Bowen himself only scored eight for the Hammers but, in a better side, surrounded by much better players, he could reasonably expect to find the net a lot more often.
Everyone talks about Liverpool’s defensive problems last season and there’s no denying them, but Jurgen Klopp’s side also struggled at the other end of the field and maybe, just maybe, Bowen could add something to the attack.
