Liverpool have identified West Ham United’s Jarrod Bowen as a potential transfer target.
Bowen, who scored eight Premier League goals for the Irons last season, has been identified by the Anfield club, according to The Athletic.
The report claims that Liverpool view the 24-year-old – a £25 million signing in 2020 – as somebody with ‘massive potential’.
Even if nothing materialises this summer, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp, who is a big fan, will continue to monitor the West Ham star.
Do they need him?
Well, Klopp could probably do with additional attacking support, yes.
Sadio Mane only scored 16 goals in all competitions last season – a poor return for somebody of his calibre.
And with Xherdan Shaqiri and Takumi Minamino linked with moves away – and probably going to leave – you can see why Liverpool want to bolster their attacking options.
But Bowen only has nine goals and nine assists in 58 Premier League appearances for the Irons, which isn’t a bad return, but we’re talking about a potential switch to Anfield and there is an argument to be made that Liverpool need better numbers.
That being said, he is only 24 and with Klopp being one of the world’s finest coaches, the Englishman – who can also play as a shadow striker – could well improve quite a lot under the German manager.
