Southampton could sell Celtic target Fraser Forster in the summer transfer window, according to The Express.
What’s the story?
The Scottish Sun reported last week that Celtic are interested in bringing back Southampton goalkeeper Forster to Celtic Park.
New Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou wants to sign the English goalkeeper on a loan deal.
Talks between Celtic and Southampton over a potential transfer have already started.
The Express are now reporting that Southampton have offered Forster a new contract.
The former Newcastle United prospect – described as “fantastic” by Southampton CEO Martin Semmens on BBC Radio Solent Sport on August 27, 2020 – is out of contract at the Saints next summer.
If the 33-year-old does not sign the new deal, which will see him take ‘a significant cut on his current earnings’, then Southampton could try to sell him this summer.
The Saints will reportedly want £2 million as transfer fee for the goalkeeper.

Could a Celtic transfer happen?
A transfer fee of £2 million for a goalkeeper like Forster who did extremely well during his loan spell at Celtic in 2019-20 is really not much.
However, the problem could be with the veteran’s wages.
The Scottish Sun have claimed that Forster earns £130,000 per week as salary at Southampton.
It is hard to see Celtic match that.
Now, of course, the goalkeeper will know that if he is to join Celtic, then he will have to take a pay-cut.
The question is how much that potential salary-cut will be.
