Kvicha Kvaratskhelia does not appear to be on the verge of a move to Premier League side Leeds United, with Rubin Kazan director Rustem Saimanov telling SportBox that ‘there are no offers from anyone’ yet.

The list of clubs who have been linked with a £20 million summer swoop for the Georgia international would make the magna carta look like one of those pesky little pamphlets that gets shoved through your letterbox.

While it is debatable how serious Napoli, Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and co ever were about the highly-raged winger, reports stating Kvaratshkelia could be on his way to Elland Road were certainly more than, to use Saimanov’s own term, ‘idle talk’.

The former Dinamo Tbilisi man admitted recently that he had held talks with Leeds, although the trail has gone cold in recent weeks as the Yorkshire club turned their attention to the likes of Junior Firpo and Nahitan Nandez.

According to Rubin’s managing director, chances are growing that Kvaratskhelia will still be plying his trade in Russia when the new season kicks off.

Could Kvicha Kvaratskhelia still join Leeds United?

“There is no movement on Khvicha yet,” Saimanov said of a man compared to Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben due to his dazzling wing play.

“We are open (to selling), but there are no offers from anyone. There is a lot of talk in the press, but this is all idle talk.

“We always say: make an offer and we will consider it. But there is not a single official proposal.

“Therefore, to be honest, there is nothing to discuss yet.”

Kvaratshkelia’s father insisted recently that there was absolutely no chance his son would be staying at Rubin Kazan for another year.

Nearly two months on, it may be time for Kvaratskhelia Sr to reconsider that stance.
