According to Marco Timmer, Liverpool are in talks with Mino Raiola over the signing of PSV Eindhoven forward Donyell Malen.

What’s the story?

Well, speaking to Voetbal International, Timmer claimed that Liverpool are in negotiations to sign the 22-year-old.

Timmer said: “Yes, of course, there are negotiations going on, and with that, it can also be counted on the negotiations that in this case, Mino Raiola is conducting with Dortmund or Liverpool for Malen and Inter and Everton for Dumfries, so he has been given that space.”

Interestingly, Borussia Dortmund are also at the negotiating table.

In our view, that could be a problem for Jürgen Klopp.

The Bundesliga outfit are armed with funds after selling Jadon Sancho, and view Malen as his replacement.

Sadly, the ex-Arsenal striker failed to score in four appearances at EURO 2020 as the Netherlands crashed out in the Round of 16.

However, Malen still looked a real threat in attack.

Supporters also warmed to him, flying a banner over Frank de Boer’s training to demand he starts the PSV Eindhoven forward.

Young, dynamic in attack, and a great long-term investment – Malen seems to be an ideal option for Liverpool.

He’d be a typically smart Michael Edwards signing, and one who Klopp could have plenty of fun with on the training ground.

The German is an excellent coach, especially when it comes to forwards, seen in the development of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah under him.

Last season, Malen – who has been likened to Alexis Sanchez – scored 27 goals in 45 games for PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool will also be encouraged to hear that he’s keen to move clubs and test himself in a fresh environment.

He’s a real livewire, who is never on his heels.

If Klopp puts him alongside Mane and Salah, opponents wouldn’t be able to cope with the trio’s movement.

In our view, Malen should be Liverpool’s No.1 attacking target this summer.
