According to VI, Donyell Malen wants to leave PSV Eindhoven this summer, after reports emerged claiming that Liverpool are interested.
It was Calciomercato who revealed that Jürgen Klopp’s side were keen on the 8-cap Netherlands international.
Now, VI state that he wants to experience a new chapter in his career.
The Dutch news outlet add that PSV Eindhoven are counting on his departure, so it seems like both club and player are on the same page.
Why PSV Eindhoven are ‘counting’ on Malen to leave isn’t specified.
If we were to presume, we’d say it had something to do with the Eredivisie outfit needing the money after COVID-19 damaged finances across Europe.
Surely it wouldn’t be for footballing reasons, as Malen is arguably the best player at PSV Eindhoven.
The 22-year-old has scored an eye-catching 26 goals in all competitions this season, while also recording nine assists.

He really has found himself over in the Netherlands after Arsenal let him leave their Hale End academy in 2017.
So, for those of you wondering, what type of player is Malen?
Well, the Wieringen-born forward has been likened to Inter Milan’s Alexis Sánchez, who Liverpool fans will know well from his time in England.
FourFourTwo quote Malen’s Under-14 coach at Ajax, Brian Tevreden, as saying: “It’s hard to describe him. If I have to compare him with a player in the Premier League, he seems a bit like Alexis Sánchez.”

The Chile international netted 80 goals in 166 appearances for the Gunners.
If Malen can bag even half of that tally for Liverpool, he will prove to be an inspired signing by Klopp.
The Dutchman’s rapid pace, and excellent finishing ability, would make him a dangerous asset in Klopp’s high-energy, gegenpressing system at Anfield.
