According to Marco Timmer, Everton are in talks with Mino Raiola over the signing of PSV Eindhoven defender Denzel Dumfries.

What’s the story?

Well, Everton showed interest in the right-back before the start of EURO 2020, where Dumfries shone.

At the tournament, the 25-year-old really put his name up in lights, despite crashing out in the Round of 16 with the Netherlands.

Dumfries scored two goals in four matches at EURO 2020, including a late winner against Ukraine.

He is valued at £14m by PSV Eindhoven.

To have such an impact going forward from right-back is very impressive.

Now, Timmer – a journalist for Voetbal international – has claimed that Everton are in negotiations with the Dutchman’s agent.

Speaking to Voetbal International, Timmer said: “Yes, of course, there are negotiations going on, and with that, it can also be counted on the negotiations that in this case, Mino Raiola is conducting with Dortmund or Liverpool for Malen and Inter and Everton for Dumfries, so he has been given that space.”

Now, that is very encouraging news for the Toffees.

However, the fact Inter Milan are also involved in talks certainly isn’t a good thing.

The Italian giants can offer Dumfries Champions League football, and have cash to spend on a right-back after losing Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain.

In that respect, Everton will have to ensure they make him a tasty offer, and blow Inter Milan out of the water in terms of wages offered, for example.

Dumfries is certainly worth the fight. In truth, his attacking qualities make him a perfect long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman.
