Alan Shearer lauded the performance of rumoured Liverpool target, Pedri, and how ‘comfortable’ he looked during the semi-finals of Euro 2020 on Tuesday, as he told Match of the Day.
The Barcelona superstar saw his Spain side knocked out on penalties by Italy last night, but it was still a stellar performance from the quick-thinking technician in the middle of the park.
The Mirror did report back in April that Liverpool have made contact with the representatives of the teenager wonderkid – and given the financial mess unfolding at the Nou Camp, they will be glad that they did now.
Nonetheless, Shearer was left wowed by the performance Pedri was putting in out on that Wembley pitch yesterday.
“To be shown his ability on a stage like this is incredible, he’s 18,” said Shearer. “He’s demanding the ball off his teammates.
“He’s wanting it in tight areas where others will say ‘no, not for me, no thank you’.
“But he’s wanting it. He’s screaming to be given that ball. He looks so comfortable.”

Spain are going back home empty-handed but there’s no doubt that Pedri’s reputation has increased during this tournament.
For him to produce such performances, on such a stage and whilst still being a teenager is utterly remarkable.
His want to get on the ball, dictate play, take the ball on during difficult moments and, a lot of the time, have that ability to pick out the pass is pretty special.
And whatever problems are unfolding at Barcelona right now, one thing is for sure, his career is going to be on the upward trajectory.
