Tottenham Hotspur fans are set to see a lot more of Ryan Sessegnon.

According to Football London, newly-appointed Nuno Espirito Santo has decided that he wants the former Fulham gem part of his senior squad next season.

And if true, it’s quite an exciting development for Spurs fans – and here’s why.

Long time coming

Sessegnon joined Tottenham for £20 million in the summer of 2019, but that was after a couple of years worth of steady speculation about him joining.

And when he finally did arrive, the Lilywhites fans only saw him for a total of 772 minutes – less than nine full games – during the 2019-20 campaign, his first season.

Last season, they didn’t see a single minute of him after Jose Mourinho loaned the 21-year-old to Hoffenheim in Germany, where he impressed.

Football London reported in 2017 that Sessegnon had his ‘heart set’ on a move to North London.

The fans have literally waited years to see him as a first-team regular at Tottenham and maybe, just maybe, they’ll see it under Nuno in some capacity.

Nuno already likes him

Another reason to be excited is how Nuno works with full-backs.

Matt Doherty secured a £15 million move to Spurs last summer after playing some brilliant football at right-back under the former Wolves boss at Molineux, while Jonny Castro, at left-back, also had a stellar few seasons under the Portuguese coach.

Football London also reported today that Nuno had tried to sign Sessegnon for Wolves on a couple of occasions, meaning he feels that he can take him to the next level.

And although it’s been a long time coming, perhaps now Sessegnon can finally become a big player at Tottenham.
