Morecambe boss Stephen Robinson believes Rangers youngster Josh McPake is getting “better and better with each minute of football” after signing him on loan until the end of the season.
McPake, who spent the second half of last season on loan with Harrogate Town in League Two, put pen to paper on a new contract at Ibrox before his loan move was confirmed.
With his long-term future secured until 2024, Robinson is hoping the Scotland youth international can get fans off their seats this season in League One.
Robinson, who took the reins at Morecamble last month, has kept “close tabs” on McPake since his time as Motherwell manager and is delighted to get a move for the highly-rated Rangers youngster over the line.
“Josh is a boy I’ve kept close tabs on from Scotland,” Robinson said, speaking to Morecambe’s official website.
“He’s had a couple of loans now which is good, and I can see him getting better and better with each minute of football.
“Towards the end of his loan at Harrogate last season, he scored goals and he’s somebody that can play anywhere across the front three.
“He creates chances and he’s a really exciting signing for us.
“He’s still young, they think very highly of him at Rangers and Steven Gerrard and the staff have been brilliant letting us have him so we’re grateful that we’ve got him here and I think the fans will enjoy watching him.”
McPake has a really exciting future ahead of him at Rangers

In addition to his spell at Harrogate, McPake has also spent time on loan with Dundee and Morton in the Scottish Championship.
Continuing to get regular games is vital and the new contract is a big show of faith in McPake from the Rangers management team.
