Arsenal are looking to reinforce Mikel Arteta’s defence by bringing in Real Madrid youngster Miguel Gutierrez and Sassuolo’s Mert Muldur during the summer transfer window, as reported by The Athletic.
Now, we have some good news and some bad news for you, Gunners fans.
The good news first: If Arsenal come calling, expect Muldur to listen.
Speaking last week, the agent of the highly-rated Turkey international admitted that he was planning to leave one of Italian football’s most feted finishing schools, following compatriot Merih Demiral out the door.
“We will see what happens in the summer. Muldur would like to take the next step in his career,” Max Hagmayr said of a man who has also been linked with Napoli and Tottenham Hotspur.
The bad news? While Sassuolo are unlikely to stand in Muldur’s way, the same cannot be said of Real Madrid.
Teenage left-back Gutierrez is one of the most exciting talents to emerge from the fabled La Fabrica academy in many a year.
He made a real impression after forcing his way into the first-team during the final few weeks of last season too, explaining why there is already a £35 million release clause in his contract.
Zinedine Zidane described Gutierrez as ‘phenomenal’ following May’s 4-1 thrashing of Granada.
Even with Ferland Mendy and newly-appointed captain Marcelo for competition, the 19-year-old is expected to maintain his progression under Carlo Ancelotti in 2020/21.

Then again, a player brimming with unbridled potential is unlikely to accept being stuck on the sidelines for long, especially with so many other clubs offering first-team football away from the Santiago Bernabéu.
Gutierrez has been offered the chance to hone his talents under football’s very own Mr Miyagi – the enigmatic Marcelo Bielsa – at Leeds United.
With Arsenal interested too, it is worth pointing out that Gutierrez shares an agent with a certain Mikel Arteta.
