Tottenham Hotspur are keen on Serie A starlet Mert Muldur with the defender’s agent telling Kronen Zeitung that there is Premier League interest in his highly-rated client.
Déjà vu at the Mapei Stadium.
In the summer of 2019, Juventus came knocking and paid £16 million to take Merih Demiral away from Sassuolo.
Two years on, I Neroverdi have another Turkey international centre-half on their hands and, like Demiral before him, Muldur has a lengthy queue of clubs following his progress already.
A modern, ball-playing central defender who idolises Sergio Ramos, the marauding Muldur certainly possesses many of the attributes the top Premier League scouts look for.
Given that individual errors have blighted Tottenham’s season, with Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez in particular coming in for criticism, it is no surprise that an up-and-coming defensive talent is high on the club’s summer wish list.
“There are always talks with top clubs in Italy and England,” said agent Max Hagmayr, who claims that Tottenham have shown an interest.

Hagmayr goes on to deliver a hammer blow to Spurs’ hopes, however, claiming that a lofty price-tag, coupled with Muldur’s desire to stay at the Mapei, means that a departure is far from imminent.
“A transfer is currently not an issue,” he added.
“He feels very comfortable here. There’s been a very good defensive development for him. Nowhere else can you improve defensively and tactically as you do in Italy.”
Tottenham have also been linked with Vitoria Guimaraes’s Abdul Mumin; another talented young defender renowned for his speed and his composure in possession (Sun).
It certainly seems that this is the style of centre-back Spurs are targeting.
