Micah Richards told Match of the Day that reported Liverpool target, Pedri, is ‘a real superstar’ for the future.
The Barcelona star has been a standout performer for Spain at Euro 2020, despite Luis Enrique’s side only picking up two draws from their opening matches.
But with the Mirror claiming in April that Liverpool have made contact with the 18-year-old’s agent, who has a £70 million release clause – and it’s then understandable why the Anfield faithful have been keeping an eye on him at this tournament.
Nonetheless, Richards shared why the gifted playmaker is so highly rated, as he listed some of Pedri’s strengths.
“At Barcelona at just 18,” said Richards. “Only Messi played more minutes than him.
“In the first game against Sweden, he absolutely ran it. He always looks forward. Very, very comfortable on the ball.
“He’s an 18-year-old yet playing like he’s 38. Dictating play and always with intent.
“He is a real superstar for the future. That’s the most important, great players like that always have got time. Always play forward. He’s going to be excellent.”

Liverpool have their own Spanish magician in the middle of the mark in Thiago Alcantara, who endured a difficult debut campaign at Liverpool.
Whilst Pedri racks up the minutes in a Spain shirt, Thiago is yet to start a game, but the minutes he did spend on the field didn’t go well back home.
But it will be interesting to see – for Spain’s final group game – whether the teenage talent will be able to mix it up with Liverpool quick-thinking experienced pro in the middle of the park because Spain need the win.
