Speaking on the BBC’s coverage of Croatia vs Czech Republic, Jurgen Klinsmann has admitted that he’d be up for taking the Tottenham job.

Klinsmann is of course a Spurs legend from his playing days, and his post-playing career has seen him foray into management as well.

The former Bayern Munich boss says he’s up for taking the Spurs job.

What’s been said?

Klinsmann says that he’s actually been in touch with Levy about taking the job.

“I called him [Levy] after he let Mourinho go,” said Klinsmann.

“I said ‘Daniel, what’s the case now?’ and he said ‘I have so much to do right now, I have to sort things out at the club and let’s talk later on’.

“Then I saw all the different names walking in and talking and walking out. And the same still today, Spurs is in my heart, absolutely I would consider that, but nobody can force him.”

“But you’d be interested?” Gary Lineker asked.

“Absolutely,” Klinsmann concluded.

Hazard’s choice

One man who’d certainly want to see Klinsmann come in is Micky Hazard.

The Spurs legend backed Klinsmann to get the job just after Mourinho was sakded.

“I’d appoint someone like Osvaldo Ardiles or Klinsmann. Even as a team I’m sort of biased because I’m a great believer in recruiting the Tottenham way, people who know the history and traditions of this great football club and are able to implement it, so I’m a great believer in that,” Hazard said.

So, could Klinsmann get the job?

Well, Tottenham have seemingly exhausted most of their other options, so why not? He’s certainly qualified for the role, and he’d be an immediate fan favourite given his playing history in north London.

This may just be a situation to keep an eye on.
