Fabrizio Romano has said on the Don Robbie YouTube channel that Nuno still wants to become the new manager of Everton.
BBC Sport has reported that former Liverpool and Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez is the leading candidate for the Everton job.
Nuno, who left Wolverhampton Wanderers at the end of last season, is a candidate.
Well-known and well-respected journalist Romano has claimed that Nuno, 47, is ready to take charge of Everton.
Romano said on the Don Robbie YouTube channel: “For sure, Nuno is waiting and is hoping for the job because he wants to be the new Everton manager. It was really one step away from being completed, but then they asked for some days.”
Rafael Benitez or Nuno?
Benitez is a former Liverpool manager, and appointing the Spaniard will be controversial indeed.
Some Everton fans have already made it clear that they are against Benitez taking charge of the first team.
The football that the Spaniard’s teams have played over the years has not exactly been great either.

Nuno is less controversial, but some will question whether the Portuguese’s playing style will suit the way the Toffees play.
However, you cannot deny Nuno’s record at Wolves.
Under the Portuguese,Wolves won promotion from the Championship to the Premier League and then played in the Europa League.
If Everton have to choose between Benitez and Nuno, then the club’s chiefs should opt for the latter.
