Guillem Balague has said on his YouTube channel that Rafael Benitez will not be affected by boos from Everton fans.

What’s the story?

Former Liverpool and Chelsea manager Benitez is reportedly on the verge of becoming the new Everton boss.

As reported by BBC Sport, Benitez has held three rounds of talks with the Everton chiefs.

The former Newcastle United boss is now the leading candidate.

Everton could reportedly offer the 61-year-old the managerial job.

What Guillem Balague says

Well-known and well-respected journalist Balague has claimed that Everton fans who are not convinced by Benitez will change their mind.

The BBC Sport journalist has also said that those Everton fans who will boo Benitez – if he gets the job – will not be able to have any effect whatsoever on him.

The journalist has pointed that Benitez was appointed the interim-manager of Chelsea in 2012-13 despite his Liverpool history.

Balague said on his YouTube channel: “To those Everton fans that are not sure about Rafa Benitez and need to be convinced, they will be convinced.

“Those that want to boo him if he gets the job, I must tell you he will not be affected by it. He has got very thick skin, having gone to Chelsea for instance and having gone through a lot of experiences in his life.”

Controversial appointment

Some Everton fans are clearly against the appointment of Benitez as the new manager.

The Spaniard was in charge of bitter Merseyside rivals Liverpool from 2004 until 2010.

It will be a controversial appointment if Everton bring Benitez to Goodison Park.
