What a mess at Tottenham Hotspur right now.
It’s been two months since they sacked Jose Mourinho but Spurs are finding it extremely difficult to hire a replacement.
There has been so many twists and turns and there’s been yet another few today.
Yesterday it was widely reported that Tottenham were set to hire Gennaro Gattuso after negotiations with Paulo Fonseca – who was heavily expected to get the role – collapsed.
But now Lilywhites chairman Daniel Levy has decided against Gattuso due to huge fan opposition to the appointment.
According to ESPN, Tottenham could very easily now go back to get Ajax boss Erik Ten Hag, who was linked originally after Mourinho left but a new contract in Amsterdam put paid to that idea.
Or did it? ESPN report that the Dutchman remains a target for Levy and suffice to say that some fans of the North London club are excited by this latest twist:
Levy making things worse?
Remember, Levy wasn’t exactly Mr Popular among Tottenham fans before this whole debacle, following the botched European Super League venture.
But his stock is plummeting at an alarming rate even more and if he wants to get the supporters back in his corner, it has to be an appointment which satisfies the fanbase.
And going by their reaction here, hiring the Ajax coach would do just that.
