Rangers and Celtic have been linked with Barry Douglas, but The Mirror claim that Bristol City are actually leading the race.

Leeds United have already announced that they’re releasing Douglas this summer, with his contract expiring at the end of the month.

Douglas must now look to find another club ahead of next season, and it seems that interesting in his signature is mounting.

Bristol City lead race, many clubs interested

It’s suggested that Nigel Pearson’s Bristol City are favourites to sign him, though other EFL clubs are rivalling them.

Teams in Scotland, Turkey and the United States are also keen, with the 31-year-old finding himself in demand as his Leeds exit draws closer.

The Scot spent last season on loan at Blackburn Rovers, registering two assists in 30 Championships games for the club, but they don’t want him back.

Do Celtic or Rangers need Douglas?

Douglas, branded ‘incredible’ by Robert Snodgrass, is wanted by both Celtic and Rangers according to the Lancashire Telegraph.

Douglas is a boyhood Rangers fan, but the Gers do have Borna Barisic and Calvin Bassey who can both play at left back.

Unless there are fears that Barisic’s current injury is worse than expected or he is sold, it’s hard to really see Rangers pushing to sign Douglas.

Celtic on the other hand do need a left back, with Diego Laxalt’s loan spell over. Douglas could provide experienced competition for Greg Taylor, and he’s available for nothing.

At 31, Douglas wouldn’t be the most exciting addition of all time, but he’s at least shown his quality in the Championship over recent years.
