Premier League giants Chelsea will loan out Nathan Baxter in the summer transfer window with Sunderland eyeing a loan deal for the talented goalkeeper, as reported by The Sun (13 June, page 67).
While the Black Cats are expected to win the race for Manchester United youngster Jacob Carney, there appears to be a real chance not one but two talented shot-stoppers will join the Wearsiders before August’s transfer deadline.
20-year-old Carney is heading north with his Old Trafford contract running down.
Baxter, meanwhile, is available for loan.

Baxter would arrive at Sunderland with plenty of experience under his belt too, following a series of loan spells away from Stamford Bridge.
He made a big impact during a spell at fellow League One outfit Accrington Stanley last season, although his time at the Crown Ground was cut short by injury.

“I think Nathan Baxter was the one who set the bar this year. He came in with a big reputation from Chelsea and couldn’t get in because of Toby (Savin)’s unbelievable form at the start of the season,” Stanley boss John Coleman told the Lancashire Telegraph.

Baxter, who has also taken in spells at Ross County and Yeovil Town, would be expected to battle Lee Burge for the number one jersey at Sunderland.
Burge impressed during Lee Johnson’s first few months at the Stadium of Light but made a crucial error in the play-off semi-final defeat to Lincoln City in May.
Sunderland are also keen to sign another Chelsea graduate in the shape of Todd Kane, while a number of Premier League prospects have also been linked with the north east giants…
