Borussia Monchengladbach’s Jonas Hofmann is ‘proud’ of speculation linking him with a £35 million move to Premier League duo Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur, as he told Sport1

An intelligent, technically gifted and eternally underrated player, the fact that Hofmann has been included in Joachim Low’s Euro 2020 squad – while Julians Draxler and Brandt watch on from the comfort of their own sofas – speaks volumes about a man who may finally be about to get the credit he deserves.

Reports linking the former Dortmund youngster with a summer switch to Leicester, Tottenham or Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea certainly raised an eyebrow or two.

But regular watchers of the Bundesliga will tell you that, on his day, Hofmann is worth every penny of that £35 million transfer fee.

With eight goals and 13 assists, the 2020/21 campaign was the best of the 28-year-old’s career too.

Will Jonas Hofmann join Tottenham, Leicester or Chelsea?

So will Hofmann now look to cash in on his success and seal a life-changing move to a Premier League giant as he enters his prime?

“It’s great recognition,” Hofmann said when quizzed about the interest in his signature.

“Without sounding arrogant, it makes me proud to see my name linked with top clubs like them.”

Hofmann is not the only Gladbach star tipped to follow Dortmund-bound coach Marco Rose away from Borussia Park before the August 31 transfer deadline.

Swiss schemer Denis Zakaria has turned down a new contract amid interest from Liverpool and Arsenal, while Matthias Ginter, Florian Neuhaus, Marcus Thuram and Alassane Plea are all reported to have admirers in England.
