Ange Postecoglou is closing in on the Celtic job – and two members of staff may be following him, according to The Scotsman.
Postecoglou has become Celtic’s top choice for the job over the last week having missed out on Eddie Howe.
The Scottish Sun suggested in midweek that Postecoglou is close to taking over at Celtic but there could be a delay due to a coaching badge issue.
Postecoglou may want to bring some staff to Celtic with him, and two names are suggested – Kevin Muscat and Arthur Papas. Both are being tipped to move to Glasgow by sources in Australia.
Who is Kevin Muscat?
The name Muscat should be very familiar to Celtic fans; he spent a year with bitter rivals Rangers having joined in 2002.
He also built up a reputation as a ‘hardman’ in his playing days. Nobody wanted to cross Muscat if they could help it.
Muscat is trusted by Postecoglou. Postecoglou was Muscat’s captain at South Melbourne, then coached and managed him there.
Muscat then became Postecoglou’s assistant with Melbourne Victory in 2012. Given his experience in Scotland, he makes sense as a helpful source for Postecoglou – even if it means turning his back on those old Rangers allegiances for Celtic.

Who is Arthur Papas?
Papas is lesser-known, but the 41-year-old served as Postecoglou’s assistant at Yokohama F. Marinos before landing a managerial job of his own with Kagoshima United in December 2020.
They’re in the third tier of Japanese football, so a move to join a club as huge as Celtic should be appealing.
Both have been very important to Postecoglou in years gone by, and could be again at Celtic.
