According to The Telegraph, Everton are considering Ralf Rangnick as a target to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

The Toffees were left rocked on Tuesday as, seemingly out of nowhere, Ancelotti left the club for a move back to Real Madrid.

Anceotti replaces Zinedine Zidane after just 18 months in charge of Everton, meaning Farhad Moshiri must now look for a new manager – a situation he couldn’t have expected.

It’s now suggested that Everton are looking towards Rangnick, who has been on their wish list in the past.

Rangnick is currently out of the game having left his post as head of sport and development for Red Bull, but recently held talks with Tottenham Hotspur according to The Guardian.

It’s unclear whether or not Rangnick is a key contender for the Spurs job, and Everton may have to move quickly to get him.

The 62-year-old is a respected coach and visionary in the game, with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp’s style ‘inspired’ by Rangnick according to Klopp’s former Mainz teammate Guido Schaefer.

Everton may love to get Rangnick going up against compatriot Klopp in Merseyside derbies, and that would be fascinating to watch as a neutral.

Given Everton’s past interest in Rangnick, this latest link is no surprise, and they may hope to convince the German to take his first long-term coaching role since leaving Schalke in 2011 – his two spells at Leipzig were just temporary roles.
