A lot of Arsenal fans on Twitter are warning Mikel Arteta to not loan out William Saliba again.

The 20-year-old defender is set to return to North London this summer after a brilliant half-season loan back in France with Nice.

But according to L’Equipe, another big Ligue 1 club in the form of Marseille are keen on signing the Arsenal powerhouse.

If it happens, it’ll be the third season in a row that Saliba has returned to his homeland on a temporary basis, having re-signed for Saint-Etienne immediately after his £27 million move to the Emirates Stadium back in 2019.

Despite costing so much, the young centre-back is still yet to make a senior appearance for the Gunners and spent the first half of the 2020-21 campaign playing with the Arsenal Under-23 side.

Arteta doesn’t appear to rate Saliba as of yet and it remains to be seen whether that will change over the summer months.

Here’s how some Arsenal supporters reacted to the prospect of the Spaniard loaning him out:

Saliba deserves a shot

It was reported earlier in May that Arteta would give Saliba a chance to impress him during the pre-season campaign.

And really, the former Manchester City assistant should absolutely give the player a chance.

It’s worth noting that Saliba was brought to Arsenal six months before Arteta, which means he is by no means one of the Spaniard’s signings and that might explain the indifference toward playing him.

But this is still a huge talent and it makes absolute sense for Arteta to give him a shot.
