This season hasn’t even finished yet but Arsenal fans are already curious to know what Mikel Arteta is planning with William Saliba.

Saliba joined Arsenal in a £27 million deal almost two years ago but unbelievably, he is yet to make a competitive debut for the Gunners.

The French defender struggled to impress Arteta during the first half of this season, before the Spanish coach loaned him to Nice in January.

And it’s fair to say that Saliba has impressed on his return to Ligue 1.

But he made some questionable comments about Arteta shortly after leaving earlier this calendar year and it has been reported that Arsenal could even sell up this summer.

That being said, Football London has reported that Saliba will get chances to impress Arteta during the pre-season campaign ahead of the 2021-22 season.

The report adds that Arteta has also decided that Konstantinos Mavropanos won’t have a future in North London, so with the Greek centre-back and David Luiz leaving the Emirates Stadium this summer, there may be room for the young French powerhouse to finally stake a claim.

It’s such a strange situation with Saliba and what a big mistake it would be to sell this early.

It’s worth remembering that we’re talking about a 20-year-old who can and will get so much better.

So if Arsenal were to sell then you could easily see the supporters become infuriated and really, who could blame them?
