The Daily Mail has claimed that Chelsea are seriously considering signing Lukaku from Inter Milan.
The Belgium international striker is reportedly considering his future after the departure of Antonio Conte and is valued at £100 million by Inter, who won the Serie A title this season.
Chelsea are reportedly ready to make a move for the 28-year-old striker.
This will come as a blow to City, who have also been linked with Lukaku following the departure of Sergio Aguero.
Calciomercato reported in April that City manager Pep Guardiola wants to sign Lukaku, as covered by HITC Sport.
Aguero is leaving City this summer, and the Premier League champions need to bring in a suitable and similarly world-class striker.
City are a big pull, of course, but Chelsea have just won the Champions League and look ready to launch a challenge for the Premier League title next season.
Lukaku is a former Chelsea striker who could not make a huge impact at Stamford Bridge.
Now considered as one of the best strikers in Europe, the 28-year-old could be tempted to return to Stamford Bridge.
