Reported Arsenal and West Ham United target Patson Daka is likely to leave Red Bull Salzburg this summer, as reported by the Salzburger Nachrichten.
Pretty much every year, a prolific goal-scorer leaves the Austrian Bundesliga behind.
And, after a superb breakthrough season at Salzburg, Daka looks all-but certain to follow in the footsteps of Erling Haaland, Shon Weissman and Munas Dabbur when the window opens again.
Arsenal and Liverpool are interested in the speedy Zambia international, according to Far Post.
Daka, meanwhile, would be tempted by the lure of Premier League football, with West Ham also in the race for his £25 million-rated signature (Mirror).
With 25 goals in 28 games in all competitions this season – 18 in 16 league matches – Daka appears to have outgrown the relatively small pond that is the Austrian top flight.
According to sources based in Salzburg, it would be a major surprise if the 22-year-old was still leading the line for Jesse Marsch’s table-topping side when 2021/22 kicks off.
“During the summer transfer period, there will be a lot of inquiries from clubs in the top European leagues. Players will also leave us,” sporting director Christoph Freund admitted.
Tottenham, like West Ham and Liverpool, will be in the market for a new number nine in the summer with Carlos Vinicius likely to return to Benfica at the end of a rather inconsistent loan spell.
Daka is also on their radar (Football London).
And if the 22-year-old can emulate the impact of a man he has frequently been compared to throughout his young career, this will be £25 million very well spent.
“When I saw Patson Daka, what came into my mind is this guy is the next Thierry Henry – and in no time he has proven it,” former coach Dan Kabwe told News Diggers last year.
