Aberdeen ace Lewis Ferguson has handed in a transfer request with the reported Rangers and Watford target hoping to leave Pittodrie, his agent has told Go Radio.
Has the nephew of Ibrox legend Barry Ferguson achieved all he can with the Dons?
The north east outfit has finished fourth in the Scottish Premiership in each of the past three seasons and it seems a lack of progress since 2018 has their star man pushing for the exit.
This week, The Sun reported Watford had seen a £2 million bid rejected.
Rangers, meanwhile, are keeping close tabs on a long-term transfer target, one who burst on to the scene with a winning goal against Steven Gerrard’s men in the Scottish Cup quarter-finals in 2019.
Aberdeen have confirmed, via a statement on their official website, that Ferguson has handed in a transfer request.
And the youngster’s agent has opted to shed some light on the situation, explaining why his client is looking to turn his back on a club that handed him his big break in the professional game.
“There is obviously quite a bit of interest and Watford had come in and made an offer for Lewis. I do think it’s the right time for Lewis to make that next step,” says renowned agent Bill McMurdo.

“He’s coming up on 22 now so I think it’s time as a player for him to make that move.
“Look, young players, footballers in general are advised by agents – whether it’s the right advice or not to go in and hand a transfer request I’m not too sure if that’s the right decision.
“Lewis is his own man. He is an old head on young shoulders. He’s quite a responsible young man, he knows what he wants in life.
“He knows he wants a crack at the big time in football. We just need to see where it goes from there.
“I’m sure over the summer there will be a lot of speculation – but I can see him moving on.”
Aberdeen, however, could hardly have made their stance any more clear. Watford’s offer, they say, was nothing short of “insulting”.
The Premier League newcomers will have to offer a lot more than £2 million if they want to take one of the most talented young footballers in Scotland to Vicarage Road. The Dons are understandably reluctant to let Ferguson go on the cheap.
