Yesterday evening was not all about Harry Kane. When Sky Sports broke the news about the striker asking Tottenham Hotspur to let him leave, there was one Spurs-owned player who was in action.
Cameron Carter-Vickers.
Bournemouth took on Brentford in the first leg of their Championship playoff semi-finals at home.
And they won.
Arnaut Danjuma scored the only goal of the match in the 55th minute to enhance the Cherries’ chances of winning promotion back to the Premier League.
Carter-Vickers lined up for Bournemouth in defence, and the 23-year-old USA international had a very good game indeed.
The defender was strong at the back and kept Brentford striker Ivan Toney quiet.
Toney is one of the best strikers in the Championship, but the former Newcastle United man simply could not do much of note against the Cherries.

The 25-year-old has scored 31 goals and provided 10 assists in the Championship this season, but he failed to add to his tally against Bournemouth.
According to WhoScored, Carter-Vickers had a pass accuracy of 65.4%, won five headers, took 36 touches, and made four clearances.
The USA international central defender joined Bournemouth on loan from Tottenham last summer, and is actually out of contract at the Premier League club at the end of June.
While the Kane story was making the headlines, some fans were praising Carter-Vickers on Twitter for his performance for Bournemouth, as shown below.
