Steven Gerrard’s Rangers are interested in bringing Lewis Ferguson to Ibrox in the summer transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun.

It has been reported that Rangers have been tracking the Aberdeen midfielder and could make a move for the 21-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Watford, who have won promotion to the Premier League for next season, have had a bid of £2 million for the youngster turned down and could return with an improved offer, according to the report.

This is not the first time that Rangers have been linked with Ferguson.

The Scottish Sun reported in May 2020 that the Gers wanted to sign the former Ibrox prospect last summer as well.

Ferguson is one of the better young players in the Scottish Premiership and has a lot of experience already.

The youngster has been a regular for the Dons over the years, and scored eight goals and gave two assists in 30 league games this season.

Ferguson is also a big fan of Celtic midfielder Ryan Christie.

The 26-year-old Scotland international did not make an immediate impact at the Hoops after his switch in 2015 and had to go out on loan to Aberdeen before eventually establishing himself as a key figure for the Glasgow giants.

Ferguson told BBC Sport in June 2020: “When you look at how Christie’s career went, when he came up to Aberdeen he took it to another level.

”The club [Aberdeen] and the staff helped him do that. He obviously went back to Celtic and took it up another notch.

“It’s a bit of inspiration when you look at what he did. I’m looking to emulate that in my career.”
