Manchester City are interested in signing Jack Grealish from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, according to The Times.
It has been reported that City manager Pep Guardiola is an admirer of the 25-year-old England international attacking midfielder.
Villa want as much as £80 million for Grealish, but that is too steep for City, according to the report.
Should City still make a move?
Villa may want £80 million for Grealish, but that does not mean that they will get it.
After all, amid the global health crisis, not many clubs will be willing to spend that kind of money on a single player this summer.
True, the Citizens do not exactly need an attacking midfielder like Grealish, who can also play as a winger, as Guardiola does have quality players for that position – Phil Foden is a rising star and Kevin De Bruyne is as good as ever – but there is always room for good players.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is also a fan of the 25-year-old Villa star and praised him after the match against Villa in October 2020 following a shock defeat for his team.
Klopp told Sky Sports: “Jack Grealish, of course, what a footballer!”
Grealish has scored six goals and provided 10 assists in 23 Premier League matches for Villa this season.
