Michael Brown has said on BBC Sport that Gareth Bale was “extremely quiet” for Tottenham Hotspur against Leeds United at Elland Road today.
The former Tottenham and Leeds midfielder has said that Bale did not have any energy, as Ryan Mason’s side suffered a 3-1 defeat to Leeds in the Premier League this afternoon.
Brown said on BBC Sport: “Bale had been extremely quiet . You’d expect a bit more from a player of his quality. He just didn’t have any energy down the right.”
Bale scored a hat-trick against Sheffield United in the Premier League last weekend.
One would have expected the winger, signed on loan from Real Madrid last summer, to turn on the style against Leeds, but the Wales international failed to make a huge impact.
The 31-year-old did not make enough attacking runs, looked devoid of ideas and imagination, and could not really take the game to Leeds.

The winger took one shot which was not on target, had a pass accuracy of 80%, won three headers, took 38 touches, attempted two dribbles, made two tackles, two interceptions and two clearances, and put in one cross, according to WhoScored.
The defeat to Leeds is a massive blow to Tottenham’s chances of finishing in the top four of the Premier League table this season.
It will be interesting to see what happens with Bale. As things stand, the Wales international winger is scheduled to go back to his parent club Madrid at the end of the season.
