Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has raved about reported Liverpool target Kylian Mbappe on Canal Plus.
Pogba plays with Mbappe for the France national football team, and the United star believes that the Paris Saint-Germain striker is having an incredible season.
The midfielder made the comments while discussing the rivalry between him and Lille goalkeeper Mike Maignan in the France team in regard to the Ligue 1 title race.
ESPN claimed in January 2021 that the striker would be keen on a move to Liverpool this summer, while L’Equipe reported in September that Liverpool are planning to make a move for the France international in the summer of 2021.
Pogba said on Canal Plus, as transcribed by Get French Football News: “Mike Maignan against Kylian Mbappé. It is that, it was a bit of a feature for the French national team (during the last international break), it was a bit of a competition.
“And honestly it is wonderful to see Ligue 1 like that. I wish everyone the best, for Mike, because we are at the same table when we are seated when we eat and everything, and Kylian, the two of them are doing an incredible season.
“If it is Lille or PSG, it is really wonderful to see it tight like this and we are going to enjoy these final matches.”
Superb signing for Liverpool
PSG are a wealthy club, and it is unlikely that they will sell Mbappe in the summer transfer window.
Even if the French club do decide to part company with the France international striker, then they will demand a lot of money.
What cannot be disputed is that Mbappe is a world-class player and, like Pogba says he is having an incredible season.
PSG could win the Ligue 1 title and the Champions League, and the 22-year-old is banging in the goals for fun.
According to WhoScored, the youngster has scored 25 goals and provided seven assists in Ligue 1 and has scored eight goals and provided three assists in the Champions League.
