Speaking on the Transfer Window Podcast, Duncan Castles has shared an interesting detail in Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham contract.
It had long been reported that there was no break clause in Mourinho’s deal at Spurs, meaning that he would be due a hefty payoff if he were to be sacked.
Fans weren’t happy about hearing this at the time, however, Castles is now reporting that there is in fact such a clause in the manager’s deal.
This means that Tottenham could sack Mourinho for cheaper than initially thought.
“Contrary to what has been reported that there is no break clause in his contract. I’m told that there is a break clause in his contract, so the cost to dismiss him, should Levy choose to go down that route is less than the remaining value on his contract,” Castles said.

This is a very interesting update to say the least.
The Tottenham manager’s job seemed to be quite secure due to the amount it would reportedly cost to sack him, but this update indicates that he could be relieved of his duties on the cheap.
Spurs are in a bad spot at the moment, and nobody would really blame Daniel Levy if he was thinking about parting ways with Mourinho, and he seemingly can do so without it being a huge detriment to the clubs finances.
This is certainly a situation to keep an eye on in the coming weeks.
